About the Garden

Our “Root and Shoots” school garden will pair up volunteers from the community (“Roots”) with students from the K-5 classrooms (“Shoots”) to plant and maintain a large raised-bed garden.  Community volunteers will be paired with individual classrooms and they will grow together throughout the year.  Elementary students will get their hands dirty as they learn about plants, bugs, gardens and vegetables.  During the summer, high school students, scouts and community volunteers will work together to help maintain the garden.

All vegetables harvested during the summer will be donated to the local food banks.  As the garden expands, we plan to serve our produce in our school cafeteria.  We can’t wait to watch our garden the school/community relationships grow.
